Experienced Math & Science Tutor

Hello, my name is Elizabeth. I have been a science and math tutor for nearly 10 years. During that time, I have tutored children (in elementary, middle, and high school) and adults (in college and post college) in various subjects, including physical science, general chemistry, organic chemistry, environmental chemistry, algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus.

    My background work experience is in civil engineering, environmental engineering, and laboratory chemistry. I have years of experience in each of those fields. Although I continued to work as an engineer, I never gave up my joy of tutoring. In the future, I intend to pursue a career in education. I believe my tutoring prepares me for that step.

    In addition, I also teach beginners’ classical piano to children and adults. Just like piano, my philosophy is that a hands-on and interactive approach to math and science subjects can easily help any student master the subject as well as develop a genuine interest in it. Oftentimes, math and science are looked upon as “scary” and “difficult” subjects to master. I believe that math and science are just as easy or hard as social studies or piano. The difference is the approach used to teach the subjects. There are everyday examples of math and science in action that can be used to take them from the theoretical to the practical. This approach helps students take control of their anxiety about math and science and begin the journey to truly enjoying and learning. I look forward to helping you on your journey.
